Leeds Bradford Airport sits on high ground at Yeadon, about 8.5 miles north-west of Leeds city centre and 8 miles north-east of Bradford. There is no motorway or railway station at the door, so the last few miles are on A-roads, and public transport means a FLYER bus. This page covers the road routes from each direction, the buses and the nearest stations, coaches and taxis. For drop-off, how early to arrive and which parking to choose, see our guide to flying from Leeds Bradford Airport.
By car: the postcode and the last few miles
For sat-nav, the airport postcode is LS19 7TU. It takes you to the access road for the Pick Up and Drop Off, Meet & Greet and Short Stay car parks. If you have booked parking elsewhere, use the postcode in your booking confirmation.
The airport is signposted from the M1, the M62 and the Yorkshire section of the A1. Every route ends on the A658, the Bradford to Harrogate road, which passes the airport and runs in a tunnel under the runway. Leave it at the roundabout for Whitehouse Lane, which leads to all the on-airport car parks and the Car Rental Centre.
Routes from each direction
- From Leeds city centre on the A65: follow the A65 north-west through Kirkstall and Horsforth, crossing the ring road at Horsforth. At the Rawdon and Yeadon boundary, turn right onto the A658 and follow the airport signs.
- From Leeds city centre on the A660: follow the A660 Otley Road through Headingley, across the ring road at Lawnswood and past Adel and Bramhope. At the junction with the A658, at the top of Pool Bank, turn left onto the A658 and follow it south to the airport.
- From the Leeds ring road: the A6120 Outer Ring Road crosses the A660 at Lawnswood and the A65 at Horsforth. Leave it at whichever is nearer and follow either route above.
- From the M1 and the south and east (Sheffield, the M62 from Hull): either go into Leeds on the M621 and take the A65 or A660, or stay on the M1 to junction 46, which is signed for Leeds Bradford Airport, and follow the A6120 ring road west around the north of the city to the A660.
- From the A1(M): the M1 and the A1(M) meet east of Leeds, near Aberford, so from the A1(M) in either direction you can join the M1 towards Leeds and leave at junction 46 for the ring road. From the north, the alternative is to leave the A1(M) at junction 47, take the A59 west towards Knaresborough, then follow the A658 around the south of Harrogate and on through Huby and Pool to the airport.
- From the M62 west (Manchester, Huddersfield): leave at junction 26 (Chain Bar), take the M606 into Bradford, then pick up the A658 north through Eccleshill, Greengates and Apperley Bridge to the airport.
- From Harrogate: take the A658 south-west through Pool-in-Wharfedale to the airport.
The airport keeps a travel disruption page for roadworks and events that affect the way in. Check it, and live traffic, before an early or busy-day departure.
By train: no station at the airport
Leeds Bradford has no railway station. A parkway station on the Leeds to Harrogate line has been proposed for years, but it has not been built and has no opening date. For now, take the train to Leeds or Bradford Interchange and the FLYER bus from there, or to a station on one of Northern's local lines and a taxi for the last stretch. Combined rail and bus tickets are available.
By bus: the FLYER
Transdev runs three FLYER routes to the airport, seven days a week. The airport says buses usually run from about 06:00 to 22:00, including weekends and bank holidays, so check the first bus against your check-in time.
- A1 from Leeds: from Leeds City Bus Station, via a stop beside Leeds railway station, then Kirkstall, Horsforth, Rawdon and Yeadon. It runs about every 30 minutes for most of the day and hourly in the evening, and takes about 40 minutes from the city centre.
- A2 from Bradford: from Bradford Interchange via Greengates, Apperley Bridge station and Yeadon, taking about 35 to 40 minutes, then on to Harrogate via Pool and Weeton station. It runs roughly hourly, with the first bus from Bradford a little after 05:00 on the current timetable.
- A3 from Bradford: from Bradford Interchange via Shipley, Guiseley and Yeadon, taking about an hour, then on to Otley. It runs roughly hourly, and with the A2 gives about two buses an hour between Bradford and the airport.
Timetables change, and the FLYER routes have diversions for events in Leeds, Bradford and Pool, so check Transdev's FLYER pages for the day you travel.
By coach
No long-distance coach runs to the terminal. National Express coaches stop at Leeds Coach Station on Dyer Street, next to Leeds City Bus Station, where the A1 FLYER starts.
By taxi
Arrow Cars is the airport's official taxi partner, picking up and dropping off on the terminal front. Taxis are also the practical way in from local stations such as Horsforth and Guiseley.
Once you are through security, our page on shops, food and drink at Leeds Bradford Airport lists what is in the terminal. To compare parking for your dates, see Leeds Bradford Airport parking.
