Humberside Airport is at Kirmington in North Lincolnshire, just off the A18 and three miles from the end of the M180. It sits roughly between Hull, Grimsby, Scunthorpe and Lincoln, and most people drive, because the nearest station is three miles away and buses are infrequent. This page covers the road routes from each direction, the train and bus options, then what there is to eat, drink and buy inside. For drop-off, check-in times, security and which parking to choose, see our guide to flying from Humberside Airport.
By car: the postcode and the last few miles
For sat-nav, the airport postcode is DN39 6YH. If you have booked parking elsewhere, use the postcode in your booking confirmation instead.
Almost every route ends the same way: get to junction 5 of the M180, near Barnetby, then take the A18 for about three miles to the airport. Junction 5 is where the M180 ends and the A180 to Grimsby begins, and the A15 crosses it on its way to and from the Humber Bridge. Once you arrive, follow the signs for your car park.
Routes from each direction
- From Hull and East Yorkshire: cross the Humber Bridge and follow the A15 south to M180 junction 5, then the A18 to the airport. The bridge is tolled; the Humber Bridge website has the current charge and how to pay.
- From Grimsby, Cleethorpes and Immingham: head west on the A180, which becomes the M180 at junction 5. Leave there for the A18.
- From Scunthorpe: take the M181 to M180 junction 3, then head east on the M180 to junction 5.
- From Lincoln: take the A15 north to M180 junction 4 near Scawby, then go east on the M180 for one junction to junction 5.
- From Doncaster, Leeds and the west: the M180 starts at junction 5 of the M18, which links to the M62 and the A1(M). Follow the M180 east past Scunthorpe to junction 5.
By train: Barnetby, then a taxi
The nearest station is Barnetby, three miles from the airport. There is no station at the airport itself, so plan the last leg as a taxi or the bus below.
- TransPennine Express: roughly hourly on weekdays between Cleethorpes and the north-west, via Grimsby, Scunthorpe, Doncaster, Sheffield and Manchester Piccadilly.
- East Midlands Railway: about every two hours on weekdays between Cleethorpes and Nottingham via Lincoln, Market Rasen and Newark.
- Northern: a very limited service on the Brigg line towards Gainsborough, Retford and Sheffield.
The airport's partner taxi firm is Cable Taxis, which has a desk in the terminal. The airport advises checking availability and booking before you travel rather than hoping for a cab at Barnetby. Barnetby has step-free access to all platforms.
By bus
Hornsbys runs the local bus that calls at the terminal, on the route between Scunthorpe or Kirton in Lindsey, Brigg, Wrawby, Barnetby and Kirmington. The airport describes it as service 4, every two hours from Monday to Friday; the operator's current timetables also show a Saturday service, numbered c4, with buses at the airport roughly every two hours from about 9am. Route numbers have changed recently, so check the current timetable with Hornsbys or Traveline. Either way, the buses start too late for a morning flight.
North Lincolnshire's on-demand bus, Connect2, replaced the old JustGo service in April 2026. It runs from Monday to Friday, 7am to 7pm, and on Saturdays, 8am to 6pm, booked by app or by phone up to seven days ahead. The airport's own page still refers to JustGo, so check with Connect2 that it will take you to the terminal when you book.
For the first flights of the day, when check-in opens at 04:30, driving, a pre-booked taxi or a night at the hotel within walking distance of the terminal is the practical choice.
Food, drink and shops
Checked against Humberside Airport's own listings in October 2026; outlets change, so check the airport's site for opening hours.
