Newcastle International Airport has one terminal and one lounge space, run by Aspire, that is split into three tiers you can pay for: the Aspire Lounge, Luxe by Aspire and The Suite by Aspire. They were opened in 2024 after a refurbishment and expansion, and all three share the same entrance airside. The difference is in how much you get and who can come in. This page compares the three: what is included, the rules on children and how long you can stay. If you are still deciding whether a lounge is worth it at all, our guide on whether an airport lounge is worth it covers that.

Finding the lounge

After security, walk through duty free, turn right towards Dixons, then take the escalators or lift down one level towards the gates. The lounge is on the right. All three tiers have step-free access, charging points, fast Wi-Fi, digital newspapers and magazines, and screens showing boarding times.

Aspire Lounge

  • Included: a hot breakfast or lighter options such as pastries, cereal, fruit and yoghurt in the morning, then hot dishes, salads, soups and snacks later in the day, with vegetarian and gluten-free choices. The bar serves complimentary beer, wine, spirits and soft drinks, with alcohol for over-18s only. Champagne and prosecco cost extra.
  • Children: welcome with an adult. Under-2s go free with a paying adult, and children's prices cover ages 2 to 11.
  • Timing: a stay of up to three hours. It opens at 3.30am, and closing times vary by day and season, from late afternoon to the evening.
  • Dress: smart casual. Jeans, trainers and smart shorts are fine; football or rugby shirts, baseball caps, fancy dress and onesies are not.
  • Suits: families, and anyone who wants a seat, a meal and a drink away from the busy departure lounge. It is the only tier children can use.

Luxe by Aspire

  • Included: its own self-service buffet with hot dishes, deli plates and sweet treats, premium wines, spirits and cocktails, and private and open work spaces. It has views of the airfield.
  • Children: adults only (18 and over). Aspire allows under-18s only if they hold an eligible business class ticket.
  • Timing: bookings are for a three-hour stay, made at least two hours before you plan to arrive. If you turn up early you may be asked to wait until your booked time; if you are late, you keep the original end time.
  • Suits: couples and adult groups who want a quieter room and better drinks, and business travellers who need somewhere to work.

The Suite by Aspire

  • Included: a welcome drink and a host who shows you to your table, then table service from an à la carte menu of made-to-order dishes, with premium drinks and sparkling wine. You can also use the Luxe buffet.
  • Children: adults only (18 and over). Families are directed to the Aspire Lounge.
  • Timing: the same three-hour booked stay and arrival rules as Luxe.
  • Suits: a special occasion, or anyone who wants a proper sit-down meal before the flight rather than a buffet. It costs the most of the three.

Busy times

Priority Pass warns that access to the Aspire Lounge may be restricted for its members at peak times, currently Wednesday mornings and Friday and Sunday afternoons. Opening hours have also changed at short notice in the past, and the doors close half an hour before closing time. Pre-booking is the way to be sure of a place.

Which one for you

  • Families: the Aspire Lounge, the only tier that admits children.
  • A quieter room and premium drinks: Luxe by Aspire.
  • Working before a flight: Luxe by Aspire, for its work spaces.
  • A celebration or a proper meal: The Suite by Aspire.
